Detailed technical specifications of Box Conveyor and notes when installing

May 5, 2025Category : conveyor

A box conveyor is a specialized box transport equipment, widely used in warehouses and automatic production lines. With flexible specifications such as width from 300-1200mm, speed up to 60m/min and load up to 100kg/m, this system helps increase productivity, save costs and optimize factory space. The following article will help you understand the basic specifications when choosing the right box conveyor.

What is a box conveyor?

A box conveyor is a conveyor system specifically used to transport cartons, plastic boxes, paper boxes or block-shaped packages in the production line. With an optimal design to handle objects of uniform size, box conveyors are often integrated in factories, logistics centers and warehouses to improve transportation and packaging efficiency.

Box conveyors are ideal for goods with box or block shapes, including:

  • Cartons containing packaged products
  • Plastic boxes in the food industry or electronic components
  • Paper boxes containing pharmaceuticals, cosmetics
  • Standard packaged packages in the warehouse

Depending on the weight and size of the box, the system can be customized in terms of width, conveyor material and loading capacity to suit actual needs.

Technical Specifications of Box Conveyor

  • Conveyor width: 300 – 1200 mm
  • Conveyor length: 1 – 20 meters (depending on the layout)
  • Conveyor height: 500 – 1000 mm
  • Transportation speed: 10 – 60 m/min (adjustable by inverter)
  • Maximum load: 30 – 100 kg/m (depending on the type of roller or belt)
  • Frame material: Powder coated steel, galvanized steel or stainless steel
  • Power source: 220V or 380V – 50Hz
  • Motor: AC gear motor, capacity from 0.2 – 2.2 kW
  • Control system: Can integrate sensors, PLC, inverter
  • Warranty: 12 months

How many types of Box Conveyor are there?

Depending on the characteristics of the goods, working environment and operating requirements, box conveyors are divided into many different types. Below are the 3 most common classifications:

Classification by conveyor structure

  • Roller Box Conveyor: Suitable for boxes with flat and hard bottoms. Can be free rollers (using hand push) or motor-driven rollers for automatic operation.
  • Belt Box Conveyor: Uses PVC or PU belts to transport light, small-sized boxes. This type runs smoothly, suitable for environments requiring high cleanliness such as the food and pharmaceutical industries.

Classification by direction of movement

  • Straight conveyor: Moves goods in a fixed direction from point A to point B. This is the most common type.
  • Curved conveyor: Can change direction 30°, 45°, 90° or 180° to save space and change the direction of transport flexibly.
  • Lifting conveyor: Transports goods in an inclined direction up or down between floors or areas of different heights.

Classification by operating method

  • Automatic box conveyor: Integrated sensors, motors, PLC control to help operate continuously without manual intervention. Usually connected to the overall automation system.
  • Semi-automatic box conveyor: Some steps require manual operation, such as putting boxes on the conveyor or navigating by workers. Suitable for small or medium-sized production lines.

What are the advantages of Box Conveyor?

The application of box conveyor in production lines and warehouses brings many outstanding benefits compared to manual transportation methods. Here are the outstanding advantages:

  • Increasing work efficiency: Box conveyor helps automate the process of transporting goods, thereby reducing operating time, limiting waiting between stages and improving the overall productivity of the entire system.
  • Saving labor costs: Instead of using a lot of labor to move boxes, the conveyor system undertakes this work continuously, stably and without rest, helping businesses significantly reduce labor costs.
  • Easy to customize according to requirements: Depending on the type of box, businesses can choose the appropriate type of conveyor (roller conveyor, belt conveyor…) with flexible size, material, moving speed and transportation direction.
  • Easy integration with other equipment: The box conveyor system can be connected to barcode printers, labelers, QR scanners, packaging robots, helping to form a closed and synchronized chain.
  • Easy to maintain and operate: The components in the box conveyor are often simple in structure, easy to disassemble, maintain and replace when necessary. In addition, the intuitive control system makes it easy for operators to get acquainted and operate.

How to Choose the Right Box Conveyor for Your Business?

Choosing the right box conveyor not only increases work efficiency but also saves investment and maintenance costs in the long run. Here are some important factors to consider:

  • Box size and weight: If you are transporting light cartons, you can use PVC or PU belt conveyors. For heavy and large-sized goods, roller conveyors or chain conveyors will be a safer and more durable choice.
  • Box shape and bottom: Boxes with curved or unstable bottoms should use belt conveyors to ensure that they do not tilt or fall during transportation.
  • Investment budget: Small businesses with few orders can choose semi-automatic conveyors to save costs. Large-scale factories should invest in automation systems to reduce long-term operating costs.
  • Installation space: If the space is narrow, you can use curved or lifting conveyors to save space.
